SUELLA Braverman was dismissed from her position as Home Secretary today after being accused of exacerbating tensions on Armistice Day by criticizing Met Police chiefs.

Divisive comments blamed for violent clashes

Critics of the former Home Secretary attributed the violent clashes between pro-Palestinian protestors and far-right thugs to her controversial remarks about the police.

Outrage over Braverman's accusations

Last week, Ms Braverman sparked outrage when she accused the police of favoring left-wing pro-Palestine and BLM protestors over right-wing marches in an article for the Times.

Braverman's controversial statement

Ms. Braverman had stated, "Unfortunately, there is a perception that senior police officers play favorites when it comes to protesters. During Covid, why was it that lockdown objectors were given no quarter by public order police yet Black Lives Matters demonstrators were enabled, allowed to break rules and even greeted with officers taking the knee? Right-wing and nationalist protesters who engage in aggression are rightly met with a stern response yet pro-Palestinian mobs displaying almost identical behavior are largely ignored, even when clearly breaking the law."

Reshuffle upheaval

Ahead of the Prime Minister's major reshuffle, allies of the ousted Home Secretary expressed their frustration. Many saw her as their representative on the cabinet table, countering the more moderate Tory MPs.

Supreme Court ruling imminent

The reshuffle coincides with the Supreme Court's upcoming final ruling on the legality of the Rwanda deportation scheme, which will be delivered in three days.
