Scathing report into appointment of BBC boss Richard Sharp set to be published
Sources believe Richard Sharp is unlikely to survive the investigation into his controversial appointment in February 2021.

Barrister Adam Heppinstall is looking at revelations Mr Sharp helped arrange an £800,000 loan for then-PM Boris Johnson, who recommended him for the Beeb role.

Former Goldman Sachs banker Mr Sharp, who has also known current PM Rishi Sunak for years, is accused of failing to declare his part in the dealings when applying for the job.

MPs have criticised him for “significant errors of judgment” in failing to declare the potential conflict of interest.

A damning Westminster report previously found the broadcaster boss had made “significant errors of judgement”.

MPs blasted him for failing to reveal his part in arranging the cash for the then-PM when he was applying to the role.

Revelations that Mr Sharp introduced Mr Johnson’s cousin, Sam Blyth, to the Cabinet Secretary to discuss the possibility of the loan sparked accusations of cronyism.
