Robert Jenrick calls for Britain to quit European Convention of Human Rights

Warning against Strasbourg judges

Robert Jenrick, a Tory leadership frontrunner, is set to warn Britain about the need to leave the European Convention of Human Rights. He criticizes Strasbourg judges for hindering the deportation of foreign criminals like murderers, rapists, and paedophiles.

Leave or die

Jenrick will address party activists at a non-sanctioned "rebel rally" in Birmingham, emphasizing the urgency of the situation by stating, "The choice is clear, it’s leave or remain. It’s more than that – it is leave or die." He warns that failing to act could lead to Nigel Farage's Reform growing and potentially condemning Britain to obscurity.

Immigration policies under scrutiny

In addition to advocating for leaving the ECHR, Jenrick is pushing for an annual cap on legal migration to reduce numbers. He criticizes the past 14 years of broken promises and stresses the importance of restoring the public's trust in the party's stance on immigration, stating, "Our party’s survival rests on restoring our credibility on immigration."
