The PM told MPs in the Commons: “I am registered with an NHS GP. I have used independent healthcare in the past.”

Mr Sunak didn’t clarify when he first signed up to a practice.

Questions about the PM’s use of the NHS comes as the health service faces one of its worst crises in decades.

Around 7 million Brits are currently on hospital waiting lists.

And healthcare staff have been striking over pay and working conditions.

Today thousands of ambulance workers up and down the UK have walked out of work due to an ongoing pay dispute.

Brits have been warned to only call 999 in ‘life-threatening’ circumstances.

Services will be stretched with thousands of staff members having taken to the picket line.

Responding to Mr Sunak’s admission, Sir Keir Starmer told the Commons: “I heard the Prime Minister saying he’s now registered with an NHS doctor so he’ll soon enjoy the experience of waiting on hold every morning at 8am to get a GP appointment.

“But I can tell him that those that are waiting now don’t want another round of empty promises or boasting about what he’s done.

“They just want to know whether they’ll be able to see a doctor.”
