RISHI Sunak today declared that “100 per cent” of women do not have a penis.
He waded into the transgender rights debate after Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer had said the figure was only 99.9 per cent.
PM Rishi Sunak declared that ‘100 per cent’ of women do not have a penis
The issue is becoming a clear dividing line between the parties ahead of the next election.
Mr Sunak told grassroots bible ConservativeHome: “We should always have compassion and understanding and tolerance for those who are thinking about changing their gender.
“But when it comes to these issues of protecting women’s rights and women’s spaces, I think the issue of biological sex is fundamentally important.”
Meanwhile scientists questioned ONS stats claiming 262,000 people in England and Wales are transgender — 0.5 per cent of the population.
Oxford boffin Dr Michael Briggs thinks the figures are exaggerated by a high number of respondents whose first language is not English and misunderstood the question.
Senior Conservative MP Sir John Hayes told the Sun: “It is just about possible that this disparity is an accurate reflection, but it’s just very hard to believe.
“It raises serious concerns the data is skewed and it should not affect our priorities as a result.
“The ONS must learn lessons from this”.
An ONS spokesman said: “While the question on gender identity was tested thoroughly, it is possible individual responses were affected by different interpretations of the question.
“We will do more work to understand whether that was an issue.”
