Calls for Action
Gove has been vocal about his plans to outlaw slacker councils from implementing a four-day workweek.
According to Mr. Gove, local authorities engaging in "quiet quitting" may face funding cuts.
No Room for Slacking
Gove expressed his frustration with council workers who do not put in a full week's worth of work.
He stated, "People who pay council tax work five days a week or longer. They deserve 100 percent of the service, not 80 percent. The idea that everyone should be slacking in this way at the expense of hard-working taxpayers is completely wrong."
A Shift in Perspective
Gove emphasized that the need for remote work during the pandemic was temporary and not a permanent lifestyle shift.
He added, "Slacking, quiet quitting, all the rest of it. That is just a way of having some people maintain their quality of life at the expense of others."
