A male Labour MP is thought to be under investigation by Westminster’s Independent Complaints and Grievances Scheme over a sexual harassment complaint

The male MP is thought to be under investigation by Westminster’s Independent Complaints and Grievances Scheme over a sexual harassment complaint.

The ICGS probes complaints into bullying, harassment and/or sexual misconduct in parliament.

The MP in question retains the party whip despite widespread knowledge that he is under investigation.

Were the complaint to upheld, the MP’s case could be escalated to an Independent Expert Panel, who can recommend suspension or expulsion from the Commons.

But the parliamentary authorities, the Labour Party and even the MP himself refused to even confirm or deny the exitance of the inquiry.

When quizzed at their home address, the MP’s infuriated wife slammed the door shut.

Our revelation is the latest allegation to rock the Labour Party.

Last week former Shadow Wales Secretary Christina Rees had the whip suspended over bullying allegations. And backbencher Rupa Huq was suspended in a race-row in September.

Ex-Labour Chief Whip Nick Brown – who used to be in charge of party discipline – also remains suspended from Labour while a complaint into his behaviour is investigated.

Meanwhile earlier this year the Tories stripped the whip from Chris Pincher after Trending In The News revealed allegations he drunkenly groped two men in a club.

Another anonymous Tory MP is currently on bail by the Met Police for allegations of rape, while Trade Minister Conor Burns was sacked two weeks ago amid a complaint about his behaviour.

Separately Tory MP Neil Parish resigned after Trending In The News revealed he had watched porn in the House of Commons.

A spokesperson for the House of Commons said: “We cannot confirm or deny any current investigations. Parliament’s Independent Complaints and Grievance Scheme (ICGS) operates on the basis of confidentiality for the benefit of all parties.

“Therefore, we cannot provide any information on complaints or investigation, including whether or not a complaint has been received or whether an investigation is ongoing.”

Labour declined to comment.
