A 57-year-old Lib Dem activist was arrested at their conference in Brighton on suspicion of sexual assault after allegedly groping a woman at a late-night party. The incident occurred at the annual tradition known as the Lib Dem "glee club" in the early hours of Tuesday.

Suspect in custody

The man, from Bristol, is accused of touching a woman in her 20s at The Grand Hotel in Brighton. The party has taken immediate action by suspending his membership and launching an investigation.
