He had been travelling after an appearance on BBC Radio 4’s Any Questions at Wakefield Cathedral when he was caught by a camera.
The Immigration Minister, 41, admitted speeding and was today handed his punishment at Northampton Magistrates’ Court.
He is the second Home Office Minister currently unable to drive after Tom Tugendhat was banned for six months in November.
The Security Minister pleaded guilty to using his phone at the wheel of his Skoda 4×4 while motoring through central London last April.
The judge Jack McGarva had said: “Using a mobile phone in any way is a distraction.
“Without any doubt it impairs people’s ability to drive. I would expect you to set a good example for the rest of us.”
