The project faced turmoil after Rishi Sunak scrapped the northern leg of HS2 and halted work at Old Oak Common pending additional funding.

Unlocking funds for infrastructure investment

The Chancellor plans to release billions by adjusting borrowing regulations to enhance investment in roads, housing, and energy.

A Government source stated: "HS2 wouldn't be viable without Euston as the terminus. The station urgently needs investment, as it has deteriorated into a bleak scene in London."

Last week, Transport Secretary Louise Haigh informed London's Evening Standard: "Euston will play a role in the broader picture, and decisions will soon be made on tunneling and development."
