The UK Home Secretary, Suella Braverman, is calling on the police to take strong action against displays of support for the militant group Hamas. This comes after videos emerged of people in the UK celebrating the recent attack on Israel.
Zero Tolerance for Anti-Semitism and Terrorism
Rachel Riley, a popular TV personality from the show Countdown, recently shared images of cars driving with Palestinian flags, which she described as "bouncing up and down." Home Secretary Suella Braverman has condemned these displays, saying, "There must be zero tolerance for anti-Semitism or glorification of terrorism on the streets of Britain."
Taking Action to Protect the Jewish Community
The Home Secretary has been in talks with the Community Security Trust (CST), a charity dedicated to protecting British Jews from anti-Semitism and related threats. Braverman stated, "Whenever Israel is attacked, Islamists and other racists use it as an opportunity to incite hatred against British Jews." She assured that the government is taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety of Jewish communities and expects the police to use the full extent of the law to combat support for Hamas and attempts to intimidate British Jews.
Protests Planned in Solidarity with Palestine
Meanwhile, the Palestine Solidarity Campaign has called for an "emergency" demonstration outside the Israeli embassy on Monday, urging people to show their support for Palestine.
