The daughter of former Tory MP David Faber, Lara Faber-Johnson, was reportedly punched in the face by her husband, John Brennan, in front of their young child. The incident occurred in the early hours of June 1 this year at their family home.

Prosecution's Account

Prosecutor Laura Thomas told the court that Brennan, who has a history of violence towards his wife, ignored her requests to stay out of their bedroom and proceeded to assault her, calling her derogatory names before punching her on the cheekbone.

Legal Proceedings

Brennan, who denies the charge of assaulting his wife by beating, is set to stand trial on July 4 next year. Following the incident, Lara Faber-Johnson has initiated divorce proceedings and Brennan has been ordered not to contact her.

Family Background

Lara Faber-Johnson, a keen horsewoman and estate agent, is the great-granddaughter of former Prime Minister Harold Macmillan. Her father, David Faber, served as a Tory MP and later became a headmaster at his former prep school.
