With the 2024 US election just around the corner, bookies have pegged former President Donald Trump as the frontrunner to re-enter the White House. Trump, with odds of 4/6, is seen as the "firm favorite" to defeat his Democratic rival, Kamala Harris.
Betting Trends and Predictions
According to Betfair Exchange, which boasts a track record of accurately predicting 22 out of the last 24 major elections, more than £140 million has been wagered on the upcoming US election. Interestingly, the majority of punters have placed their bets on Trump, with nine of the top ten largest bets also backing the Republican candidate.
Swing States and Analysis
Trump holds the lead in five out of seven swing states and is in a tight race with Harris in Wisconsin. Betfair's Sam Rosbottom highlighted that while there has been some movement in odds in favor of Harris in certain states, Trump remains the favorite overall. The betting market suggests a strong belief among punters that Trump will secure victory once again.
