The Foreign Office confirmed an agreement to transfer sovereignty of the Chagos Islands to Mauritius, with the UK and US maintaining a military presence on Diego Garcia for 99 years.
Parliamentary approval needed
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer may face opposition at home as the deal could require parliamentary approval.
Commitment to Gibraltar
Minister Peter Kyle also affirmed that Britain will not surrender Gibraltar, emphasizing the importance of national interests and regional stability.
