It was believed Mr Johnson wanted to award gongs to his closest political allies – including his own father Stanley.

Tory MPs Nadine Dorries, Alistair Jack, Nigel Adams and Sir Alok Sharma were also in line for seats in the House of Lords.

But the final list could look wildly different so Mr Sunak can avoid having to face challenging by-elections as Ms Dorries and Sir Alok were prepared toe stand down early to accept their peerages.

And the Times reports that Stanley – an environmental campaigner and one-time I’m A Celeb star – has been struck off by No10.

Mr Sunak had face calls to block Mr Johnson even getting a resignation honours list due to the nature of his departure.

The ex-PM quit amid a massive rebellion over Partygate and the Chris Pincher groping scandal.

He is still awaiting his fate from the Privileges Committee into whether he knowingly misled MPs about No10 lockdown parties.

And Mr Johnson caused a headache for the government last week after bypassing them and sending his material straight to the Covid inquiry.

But no PM has ever had a resignation honours list blocked and it is believed Downing St has waved through a 50-strong list.
