Boris Johnson thought Partygate buster Sue Gray was ‘psycho’, his former top aide says

BORIS JOHNSON constantly slammed Partygate buster Sue Gray as a “psycho Sue”, it was revealed today.

Guto Harri, who was a top aide of the ex-PM, told LBC he thought Partygate was blown out of proportion.

Guto Harri, BoJo’s ex-communications chief said the former PM was “extremely suspicious” of the Partygate buster and her probe

And he hit out at Ms Gray, arguing she left no room for “perspective” in her damning Downing Street booze investigation.

When asked how Boris described the top mandarin, Mr Harri responded: “If I were to say one word maybe that will be recurring in it, ‘psycho’ Sue Gray, would be part of it, and there is a sense she lacked perspective as to what he had done.

“Towards the end, I think Boris rightfully thought that there was no perspective and things were completely out of all proportion in the way Partygate was viewed.”

The ex-aide added that BoJo had “respected” Ms Gray a lot, but later became “extremely suspicious of this woman”.

Mr Harri, who was BoJo’s head of communications, hit the airwaves this morning to launch a new podcast, lifting the lid on his time in No10.

Alongside discussing Ms Gray, Mr Harri revealed how BoJo “squared up” to King Charles over the monarch’s opposition to the Rwanda deportation scheme.

“Things were not so celebratory when Boris and the soon-to-be King went to Kigali, Rwanda,” he said.

“Prince Charles, as he was then, had criticised the government’s approach to small boats.

“He was also planning a speech on slavery. Boris squared up, confronted him and warned him ‘I’d be careful’ he said, ‘or you’ll end up having to sell the Duchy of Cornwall to pay reparations for those who built it.’ Relations never fully recovered.”

Ms Gray is currently awaiting the outcome of an independent investigation into whether she can be Sir Keir Starmer’s next right hand woman.

Ms Gray was forced to quit the Cabinet Office in March after news of her hush-hush chats with Labour were leaked before she had approached the Whitehall appointment watchdog, ACOBA.

The Labour boss last week insisted yesterday that his soon-to-be chief of staff had broken no rules and they were not in talks while she was probing Boris Johnson over partygate.

But insiders revealed she refused to even pick up the phone or answer repeated emails to Cabinet Office staff tasked with investigating her when she jumped ship to join Sir Keir’s top team.
