Xbox vs PlayStation: Which Console Has the Most Exciting Games for 2024?

Xbox Developer Direct vs PlayStation State of Play: The Showdown

In January, both Xbox and PlayStation held their gaming showcases to give fans a glimpse of what's to come. Now that the dust has settled, let's take a closer look at which console maker has the more interesting games lined up for 2024.

PlayStation Takes the Lead with 18 Games

In terms of the number of titles shown, PlayStation's State of Play was the clear winner with 18 games, compared to Xbox Developer Direct's 5. While four of Xbox's games were exclusive titles, the majority of PlayStation's lineup were exclusives as well.

Standout Titles: Indiana Jones and The Great Circle vs Death Stranding 2: On the Beach

Both showcases had one game that stood out and had people talking for weeks. For Xbox, it was Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, which impressed fans with its stunning visuals and unique blend of third-person cutscenes and first-person action. PlayStation's standout title was Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, which showcased the auteur's signature style and intriguing concepts.

Exciting Titles from Both Consoles

While the standout titles generated a lot of buzz, there were other exciting games in both lineups. Xbox had strong contenders like Ara: A History Untold and Hellblade 2: Senua's Saga, which impressed fans with their graphics and gameplay reveals. PlayStation also had notable games like Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin, although some, like Silent Hill 2, left fans disappointed with lackluster gameplay.
