New Year, New Policies
As the new year begins, companies are making changes to their policies, and Xbox players are feeling the impact. Microsoft has implemented changes to its Microsoft Rewards scheme, making it more difficult for players to earn cash back on their products.
A Difficult Path to Rewards
The Microsoft Rewards scheme was designed to allow players to earn money by using Microsoft products. One of the easiest ways to earn rewards was by playing games on Xbox. However, the 2024 update has made it significantly harder to earn these reward points, especially through Xbox.
Reduced Points, Increased Difficulty
Previously, players could earn 50 points each day by playing a game from Xbox Game Pass. With the update, this has been reduced to just 5 points. Xbox has introduced larger bonuses to compensate for this, but they are much harder to earn.
Quest Completionist Challenge
One of the new rewards is the Quest Completionist, which grants players 1,000 points upon completion. However, players must play a Game Pass game every day for an entire month and earn achievements on at least half of those days to qualify.
Controversial Changes
Another change that has upset fans is the removal of game-specific rewards. Now, all rewards are more generalized, such as "play a game" or "earn a reward." Despite player dissatisfaction, Microsoft has no plans to reverse the changes.
