Xbox players furious at latest change – free games are disappearing

XBOX has been making a number of changes that have left console owners upset.

Firstly, Xbox announced that the price of Xbox Game Pass would rise, along with the price of the more powerful Xbox Series X.

These could be the last games available in Games with Gold.

Xbox Game Pass for Console has increased in price from £7.99 ($9.99) to £8.99 ($10.99) per month.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will see a steeper price increase from £10.99 ($14.99) to £12.99 ($16.99) per month.

However, Xbox has now announced that it will be removing Xbox Live Gold and replacing it with another service.

On September 1, 2023, Xbox Live Gold will change to Xbox Game Pass Core.

This will function almost the same as Xbox Live Gold; however, Games with Gold will be discontinued.

It will cost the same as Xbox Live Gold at £7.99 ($9.99), and will also give players the option to play games online.

However, instead of Games with Gold, players will have access to a limited library of Game Pass games.

Games with Gold gives Xbox players two games every month, which they can play as long as they have the service.

Those who have redeemed Games with Gold in the past will still be able to play them alongside the Game Pass library.

Games will be added to the limited library occasionally, but there will be 19 games available at launch.

Here are the games that will be available with Xbox Game Pass Core at launch.

  • Among Us
  • Descenders
  • Dishonored 2
  • Doom Eternal
  • Fable Anniversary
  • Fallout 4
  • Fallout 76
  • Forza Horizon 4
  • Gears 5
  • Grounded
  • Halo 5
  • Halo Wars 2
  • Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice
  • Human Fall Flat
  • Inside
  • Ori and the Will of the Wisps
  • Psychonauts 2
  • State of Decay 2
  • The Elder Scrolls Online

Many owners, including Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, aren’t happy about the change.

This subscription includes all the benefits of Xbox Live Gold, and these players will be losing the additional games given away with Games with Gold.

The list of added games is already available as part of the Ultimate subscription.

Ultimate players feel that the removal of Games with Gold is just another slap in the face from Xbox following the price increase.
