THE CEO of Xbox Game Studios has said that the company is having its best year yet.
While many think that the Xbox 360 was the heyday for the console, things are apparently only getting better.
Xbox is even releasing a new console.
At a roundtable interview Phil Spencer explained how Xbox just had one of its best quarters ever.
There are apparently more Xbox players than ever before, and they’re not always playing on console.
Not only this but that the company is on track to make $1billion (£800million) by the end of the year with PC gaming sales alone.
Spencer says: “The gaming business is reforming.
“So when we think about the progress that we’re making on console, we’re bigger than we’ve been, we have more players, the business is significantly bigger.
“We have more creators on our platform.”
By creators, Spencer is referring to the studios that Xbox owns such as Bethesda which is currently working to release the epic space adventure, Starfield.
In fact, Spencer credited Bethesda as the “catalyst” that helped inspire Xbox to put a greater focus on PC, thanks to the “great work” and “long history” the team has on that platform.
He adds: “We’re making progress in places like PC.
“And we really want to just create the place where players can find their next favorite game creators can find great players for them.”
He even compared Xbox’s current status to where it was in the days of the 360.
He says: ”We’re millions of consoles ahead of where we would have been from the 360 launch to now.
“And we’ve never had more Xbox players than we do now, which we really think is the scorecard for us.”
Xbox recently held its Xbox Games Showcase which showed first-party games such as Fable, and Forza Motorsport.
The biggest announcement was for a new version of the Xbox Series S which is being released with almost twice the memory capacity.
