WWE 2K23 release date, new modes, and cover star revealed

WWE 2K23 has been revealed, including a sooner release date than fans were expecting.

Some of the previous releases, such as WWE 2K20, lost good faith from players, but WWE 2K23 seems it will continue the good work of 2K22.

WWE 2K23 release date, new modes, and cover star revealed
John Cena is the new cover star.

Not many big changes have been announced so far, but some highly requested features, and expansions on new content, should make for a popular release.

The biggest surprise was that it’s releasing in less than two months, on March 17, 2023, for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Those who buy the deluxe edition will get three days of early access, starting from March 14, 2023.

There is a new addition in the complex yet chaotic WarGames match type.

This will see two teams of either three or four wrestlers battle across two rings surrounded by a steel cage.

Fans were begging for this to be added to the game and it appears that 2K has listened.

John Cena has been chosen as the cover star this year, with a showcase mode which will focus on the highlights of his career.

Nine wrestlers have been confirmed to appear at launch, and we have the full roster as well as some predicted inclusions.

Cena was already the cover star for 2K15, and he only competed in one match in 2022, so fans may have been hoping for a more active star to grace this year’s cover.

Those who purchase the Icon Edition will also have retro versions of Cena, Randy Orton, Batista, and Brock Lesnar that they can play with.

However, alongside Cena’s announcement Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny has been revealed as a pre-order bonus.

He participated in Royal Rumble in 2022, and has done a lot of promotional work for WWE over the last few years.

As for the staple modes, MyGM, MyFaction, and Universe modes are all seeing tweaks and expansions.

MyGM will have more GMs, expanded match cards, more match types, and up to four-player multiplayer support.

MyFaction will have new weekly modes and theme card packs, while Universe mode is getting a reworked story system.

More details about all the new modes will be revealed closer to launch.
