The Witcher remake officially announced by CD Projekt Red

AT the start of October, developer CD Projekt Red announced a huge number of projects the studio is working on.

Alongside a number of upcoming projects for Cyberpunk 2077, and a completely new IP, five games for The Witcher series were revealed.

We know that one of these games is The Witcher 4, which will start a new Witcher trilogy with a different protagonist.

However, the other games announced only had small details revealed, such as the developer and the projects’ codenames.

Today (October 26), the company revealed that one of the games is a remake of the first Witcher game.

Originally released in 2007 as a PC exclusive, most people have not had the chance to play the game that started the series.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is by far the most popular game in the series, and is widely considered one of the best games of all time.

Codenamed Canis Majoris, the studio originally revealed the remake as a “full-fledged” Witcher game separate from the upcoming new saga.

Developed at third-party studio Fool’s Theory, the remake is being created with help from former CDPR members.

CDPR will also provide full creative supervision over the upcoming remake.

It is being built from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5, a state-of-the-art game engine from Fortnite creators Epic Games.

The game is still in early development and it will be a while before footage is released.

CDPR Head of Studio Adam Badowski said: “The Witcher is where it all started for us, for CD Projekt Red.

“It was the first game we made, ever, and it was a big moment for us then.

“Going back to this place and remaking the game for the next generation of gamers to experience it feels just as big, if not bigger.”

He also praised the team working on the remake and reassured fans that “they know the source material well.”

The Witcher 2 was released on PC and Xbox 360, and it is unknown if a remake of this game will also be forthcoming.
