CD Projekt Red has finally announced the release date for its upcoming release of The Witcher 3 for the latest consoles.
The Witcher 3 originally released in 2015, and is widely considered as one of the greatest games of all time.
The upcoming update is free to upgrade.
CD Projekt’s upcoming update will bring this timeless classic to modern hardware including all DLC.
It will also include the two large expansions, Hearts of Stone, and Blood and Wine.
These expansions almost double the game’s already vast size.
Titled The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition, the game will come digitally for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on December 14.
It will be available for purchase. However, if you previously owned the game on a previous generation console, the update will be free.
This means if you owned the PS4 version, you will not have to pay for the PS5 upgrade. The same goes for the Xbox One.
PC players will also receive this perk. So if you already own The Witcher 3 on PC, you won’t have to purchase it again.
There will also be updates for the game for those who own the older console versions, or the Nintendo Switch release.
This means if you don’t own the latest hardware you will still receive some benefits.
The update will feature numerous additions and improvements, as well as the Netflix Witcher-themed additional content.
A physical version of the Complete Edition is also scheduled for release, but a date for this hasn’t been set.
All we currently know is that the physical release will be some time after the digital one.
CD Projekt is currently working on a number of games for the series.
A remake of the first Witcher game, which only had a PC release, is currently in early development.
The fourth game in the series was also announced, but is said to feature a new protagonist instead of Geralt.
This is most likely believed to be Ciri, a fan favourite character.
