Microsoft announced the news coming off the back of the Xbox 20th anniversary celebrations.
Xbox Cloud Gaming is launching in 25 regions and is rolling out this month to a “subset of Xbox gamers”.
It’ll become available to all Xbox gamers over the “coming weeks”, says the blog post.
What’s most exciting about the prospect of cloud gaming is that you don’t need to own a powerful piece of hardware to play graphically demanding games.
All of the processing is done by custom Xbox Series X hardware, so all you need to do is stream games online onto your device.
It’ll also save you a significant amount of space on your console’s hard drive.
Xbox Cloud Gaming first launched on mobile but now that it’s available on console, you don’t need a beefy Xbox Series X to play new titles.
Xbox One owners can play a selection of next-gen games on their machine, as long as they’re supported.
Microsoft says it’ll “continue to support this capability” and expand its cloud game library to include more next-gen games in “early 2022”.
You can navigate to Xbox Game Pass on your console and look for games with the cloud icon to start streaming.
