JAPANESE gaming giant Nintendo has unveiled a special edition of its hugely popular Switch console styled after its most iconic character.
The Mario Edition bundle is out next month and includes a Mario-themed Nintendo Switch console, dock, Joy-Con controllers, and carrying case.
Priced at £300, it costs about the same as a bog-standard Switch but comes in a fun colourway styled after the Italian plumber’s red and blue overalls.
The console and its stand are a striking red, while the Joy-Cons sport fetching red and white striped straps.
They’re styled with yellow accents that match the buttons on Mario’s classic outfit.
The Joy-Cons can be slotted into a bright blue comfort grip for when you want to play games using a traditional controller.

And a stylish carrying case, which is also red and blue, is decorated with an array of symbols from the Nintendo back catalogue.
Set for release on February 12, the Switch Mario edition but is available for pre-order now at a handful of retailers.
Nintendo Switches have been pretty hard to come by over the past 12 months.
That’s partly due to a surging interest in gaming due to lockdown measures imposed across the globe in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

And it appears gamers could also struggle to get hold of the Mario edition, with the console having sold out already at Nintendo’s online store.
It’s not clear how many of the snazzy machines Nintendo intends to make, so we’d suggest grabbing one sooner rather than later.
It’s not the first Mario-themed kit released by Nintendo in recent months.
Last year, the Japanese gaming giant released a Mario Kart game that you race around your living room as part of celebrations to mark 35 years since the launch of the landmark game “Super Mario Bros”.
