FOLLOWING Redfall’s disappointing release, one developer expressed sadness and disappointment at the response.
However, it’s not the reaction from players that bothers her the most, but her fellow game developers.
Redfall suffered from significant issues at launch.
Speaking out about the issue, Sadie Boyd, a senior 2D artist for Redfall, wrote on Twitter about the backlash she’s received.
Redfall has experienced a rocky launch from critics and players alike.
There are severe performance issues on PC which have led it to be rated as one of the worst Steam games of all time.
Players have also complained of balancing issues and a broken ability that allows them to skip boss fights.
It seems that Boyd is accepting of criticism, but has been disappointed by “mean-spirited” comments on the game’s limited success.
She wrote: “I did not anticipate my own peers, friends, or colleagues openly mocking and being gleeful of a difficult launch.
“Delighting in the failure of others, no matter how you feel towards a company, seems mean spirited.
“I feel sad, confused, and disappointed.”
She followed up with another Tweet that expanded on the comments she received from other developers.
She commented: “I try to keep things positive, I really do. But I am human, I have feelings.
“Seeing people I looked up to saying things like ‘They deserved this’ ‘Now their resumes are tainted lol’ ‘what f***ing idiots’ etc have, truthfully, been the only things to bother me.”
The team have promised to continue working on Redfall to fix the issues it’s currently facing, though there could be a long road ahead.
Other games which have suffered performance issues at launch, such as Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, are still promising fixes several months after release.
