Good news for PlayStation owners
PlayStation owners have received a surprise free upgrade to one of the best games of all time, Red Dead Redemption. The game, which was originally only playable at 30fps, now offers the option to play at a much smoother 60fps. This upgrade is available for both PS5 and PS4 Pro owners who have purchased the game.
Disappointment for other console owners
Unfortunately, owners of the original PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox consoles are not receiving this upgrade. Despite its age, the game's new port for PS4 and Nintendo Switch is still locked at 30fps.
A missed opportunity
When the new version of Red Dead Redemption launched on PS4 and Nintendo Switch back in August, fans were expecting more changes and improvements. However, the release turned out to be a simple port, rather than a remaster or remake, despite its £40 price tag.
Xbox owners miss out as well
Xbox owners did not receive the upgrade, but they have been able to play the original version of Red Dead Redemption for Xbox 360 on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles through backwards compatibility. However, the game is still locked at the original 30fps on Xbox Series X.
A waiting game for Nintendo Switch owners
Nintendo Switch owners were also left waiting, as the game's port on the platform remains locked at 30fps.
Overall, the upgrade to 60fps for Red Dead Redemption on PlayStation consoles provides a smoother and more responsive gaming experience. However, it's disappointing that other console owners are not able to enjoy this improvement, especially considering the game's age.
