A MAJOR retailer has promised to restock the PlayStation 5 soon as gamers’ months-long struggle to get hold of the new console continues.
Irish store Smyths Toys confirmed in an email to Trending In The News that it will receive fresh stock in February, meaning units could arrive as early as next week.

It follows a batch of PS5s released in mid-January that the company, which ships online orders across the British Isles, sold within hours.
In response to a query about stock availability, a Smyths spokesperson told Trending In The News: “We received stock in mid January which has since been sold.
“We are not receiving further stock until February 2021.”
Sony released the PS5 in November. Consoles have been in short supply due to huge demand and production issues caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Multiple retailers sold out within minutes on launch day and have spent the proceeding months sporadically releasing small batches of stock.
It’s left gamers frustrated and fed up after being led on an exhausting game of cat and mouse with no guarantee of a console at the end of it.
Smyths did not specify precisely when it expected more PS5 stock to arrive.
The first day of February is a week today, meaning the retailer’s online store could restock as early as next Monday.
Sony launched two versions of the PlayStation 5 in the US on November 12, and in the UK on November 19.
The full PS5 costs £449/$499, while a Digital Edition without a disc tray is priced at £359/$399.
They’re up against the Xbox Series X (£449) and Xbox Series S (£249), which hit shelves worldwide November 10.
All four consoles have been sold out around the world, with stock seesawing in and out of availability over the past few weeks.
The PS5 launched with major exclusive games like Spider-Man Miles Morales and a revamped version of Dark Souls for players to enjoy.
Xbox gamers, on the other hand, have a new Halo title to look forward to later this year.
