Popular Pokémon app scrapped – here’s how to save your rare ‘mons

POKÉMON has announced that it is shutting down one of its most popular apps.

A final date has now been given, and players must transfer all their Pokémmon before it closes or they will lose them all.

Popular Pokémon app scrapped – here’s how to save your rare ‘mons
Collect decks and play online in a new app.

Pokémon Trading Card Game Online will end on Monday, June 5, 2023, at 5pm UK time.

After this date all accounts will be deleted, including all cards and decks associated with those accounts.

The way that players can maintain their current decks is by transferring their account over to the new trading card app.

Pokémon TCG Live is currently in the beta testing phase, but is set to take over as the main trading card app.

It will receive its full launch on Thursday, June 8, 2023, shortly after the old app closes down.

There is no current cut-off for migrating your account to the new app, but it will be easier if done before the old app shuts down.

Migrating your account to save you cards can be a little tricky, but here is a step by step guide to help you out.

  • Go into the Deck Manager in the Pokémon TCG Online.
  • Select a deck, then select the “View Deck” icon.
  • Select “Export Deck” to copy the deck list to your clipboard, then paste the deck list into a document.
  • Repeat this for all the decks you wish to transfer.
  • Log out of the Pokémon TCG Online, then log in to Pokémon TCG Live to migrate your account.
  • Complete the in-game tutorial.
  • Go into the Deck Editor in Pokémon TCG Live.
  • Select the “Create a Deck” icon, then select “Import Deck” then copy in a deck list from your document.
  • You will receive a notification once successfully uploaded.
  • Repeat this until you have uploaded all of your deck lists.

Not all cards are currently transferable, but The Pokémon Company intended to add older sets into the new app eventually.

These cards will remain on your account, but will be unusable until they are added to the game.

You can find out more on Pokémon’s official migration FAQ.
