State of Play Unveils Remaster and Price Hike

Sony confirmed that Horizon Zero Dawn, originally launched in 2017 for the PS4, will receive a fresh coat of paint for the PS5 and PC on October 31, 2024.
Price Increase Sparks Controversy
Despite offering an upgrade path for current owners, PlayStation has more than doubled the UK price of the original Horizon Zero Dawn game on the PlayStation Store ahead of the remaster release.
Impact on Players
Players are expressing frustration as the game's price has doubled in the US and now stands at £34.99 / $39.99 for the PS4 version, up from £15.99 / $19.99 before the increase.
Options for Savings
Physical copies of Horizon Zero Dawn are still available at a lower price through online retailers, offering savings of £10 / $10 compared to the remastered version launching at $49.99.
PlayStation Hits Lineup Affected
Before the remaster announcement, Horizon Zero Dawn was part of the PlayStation Hits collection, known for offering popular titles at discounted prices. Other titles in this series include God of War, Uncharted 4, Batman: Arkham Knight, and Bloodborne.
Differing Prices Across Platforms
While the price increase applies to the PlayStation Store version, the PC port's price remains unchanged. Horizon Zero Dawn on Steam is currently priced at £39.99 / $49.99, higher than the new PS4 version.
