However, this exclusive PS5 model was created as a retirement gift for Sony's outgoing CEO, Jim Ryan, and will not be available for purchase by fans.

The retro-looking PS5 was specially made by the company as a token of appreciation for Jim Ryan, who will be stepping down in March 2024 after nearly 30 years with Sony. Pictures of Jim's thank you party were shared on social media by Yuichi Haga, the Global Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Lead at Sony Interactive Entertainment. Fans expressed their desire for Sony to release a similar retro-themed PS5 console in the future, with many praising the unique design and color scheme.
A Nostalgic Trend
This is not the first time Sony has given its latest gaming devices a PS1-inspired makeover. In 2014, the company released a limited edition of 12,300 PS4 consoles that resembled the original PlayStation, in celebration of its 20th anniversary. With PlayStation's 30th anniversary approaching in December next year, fans are hoping that Sony will continue this tradition and offer a special edition PS5 with a retro design.
