OVERWATCH fans were furious after a rare skin that was given away to charity donors was shown in a video for Amazon Prime.
Prime Gaming, a service that’s included with Amazon Prime, gives away goodies for Overwatch 2 players every month.
The skin that players want to keep rare.
Various items are usually given away, including skins and other accessories for your characters.
However, fans were furious when the pink Mercy skin was shown in the trailer for the latest Prime Gaming bundle.
The pink Mercy skin is one of Overwatch’s rarest skins, as it was only available in May 2018.
Blizzard ran a campaign where the skin was sold and all the proceeds went towards the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
The company raised $12.7million (£10.4million) for the charity, and the skin has not been on sale since.
This is likely to keep the exclusivity of the skin, so that players are encouraged to donate to charity events should one happen again.
The promotion of the latest Prime bundle boasted “brand-new rewards” and featured the rare pink Mercy in the promo video.
Players immediately attacked the video saying that giving the skin away as part of the bundle devalued it.
They also suggested that if Prime were to give away rare skins like this, in the future they’d be encouraged to wait, rather than donate to charity.
However, the pink Mercy skin never appeared in the Prime Gaming bundle, and another skin was given away instead.
The Epic Circus Junkrat skin was the one included, a far more common skin.
Amazon Prime’s video has since been removed, and it appears the inclusion of the rare skin was just to promote the bundle.
