Nintendo Sends Lawyers to Genki Over 'Switch 2 Replica' Leak at CES 2025

Nintendo Takes Legal Action

Nintendo has reportedly sent lawyers to accessory maker Genki at CES 2025 after news about a full-size mockup of the upcoming console at the show leaked online.

Genki's Controversial Display

Last week, Genki showcased what appeared to be a life-sized replica of Nintendo's next console at the CES event, sparking a wave of speculation.

A teaser for Switch 2 accessories was posted on Genki's website, showing a console resembling the Nintendo Switch.

Response from Genki and Nintendo

According to French journalist Julien Tellouck, Genki revealed that Nintendo's lawyers visited their booth at CES, but they claimed no confidentiality agreements were in place.

Genki also released a teaser video for its Switch 2 accessories, featuring a handheld console with similarities to the rumored design of Nintendo's upcoming device.

Official Statements

Nintendo responded to the leaked images and mockups, stating they were "not official," without confirming their accuracy.

In a statement to the Japanese edition of CNET, Nintendo reiterated that the Genki mockup was unofficial and not provided by them.

Conflicting Reports from Genki

Initially, Genki claimed their mockup was based on the actual console they had seen. However, they later backtracked, admitting it was based on industry leaks and they had not seen the real device.

Genki also highlighted that the console's actual size is yet to be determined, casting doubts on the accuracy of their replica.
