NINTENDO has announced that WiiU and 3DS owners will have to take action or lose all the money from their eShop wallet.
Last year, Nintendo announced that the eShop for both the WiiU and the 3DS would shut down this year.
The eShop for Nintendo 3DS is closing soon.
Those who want to purchase games for these consoles still have until Monday, March 27, 2023, in order to do so.
After this date the eShops will shut down and no new games will be available to purchase.
However, if you purchase the games before this date, you will still be able to download and play them after March.
Those who have funds in their eShop wallets after March will no longer be able to use the funds in order to purchase games or DLC.
There is a way to use the money left in this account to purchase games for your Nintendo Switch.
Players have until Sunday, March 24, 2024, to link their WiiU and 3DS accounts to their Nintendo Switch account.
This will transfer the remaining money from your old eShop wallets into your current Nintendo Switch wallet.
As part of the FAQ about Nintendo shutting down the eShop for its older console, it explained the new system.
It said: “If you have unused funds on Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS or Wii U, linking your Nintendo Network ID to your Nintendo Account and merging your funds will allow you to continue to use those funds to purchase digital download titles, DLC, passes and other similar items for Nintendo Switch.”
“The service for merging funds will remain available until March 2024.”
However, if you still wish to purchase games on the consoles, you should do this before linking the two accounts.
This will ensure that you still have the money in your old accounts in order to make these purchases.
While there is a generous period of time in order to link your accounts, it’s best to do so once you have made all of the purchases you want to.
This will prevent you from forgetting to update your information and losing your money.
