Introduction
Nintendo fans are furious as a pesky new bug is crashing two of the most popular games on the Switch, leaving players unable to complete them.
The Bug and its Impact
The game-breaking bug occurs at a critical moment in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, specifically during the Paradise Protection Protocol (PPP) fight. This is the final battle in the main game, making the issue even more frustrating for players.
The bug is triggered when players attempt to swap in their Koraidon or Miraidon Pokémon to fight against the one summoned by the PPP. Scrolling down through the Pokémon party during this process in version 2.0.1 of the games results in crashes, preventing players from finishing the battle.
The Teal Mask DLC and Updates
The introduction of The Teal Mask, the first piece of DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, seems to be causing these crashes. The release of this DLC prompted updates to the base games, which inadvertently introduced the bug.
Discovering a Solution
Thankfully, eagle-eyed players have discovered the exact cause of the bug and have come up with a workaround. In order to avoid the issue, players can either reduce their party to just three Pokémon before the PPP battle or go into the battle with a full party of six Pokémon and press the up button instead of scrolling down to swap Pokémon. This will allow them to continue the battle and complete the main game.
X/Twitter user mattyoukhana_ has posted a short video demonstrating these two possible solutions to the bug.
Conclusion
While fans are disappointed by the game-breaking bug in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, there is a solution available for those affected. By implementing the suggested workarounds, players can continue playing and complete the main game without any issues.
