New Switch Console Revealed
In a surprising move, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa announced in a tweet in May 2024 that a successor to the popular Nintendo Switch is currently in development.
Switch 2 Launch Expected in 2025
Despite the upcoming launch of the new Switch console, dubbed by fans as the "Switch 2," in 2025, Nintendo has not slowed down production on the current Switch. During the June Nintendo Direct, it was revealed that a new Switch console will be coming out this year.
Introducing Nintendo Switch Lite - Hyrule Edition
A new version of the Switch Lite console, the Nintendo Switch Lite - Hyrule Edition, will be launching alongside the highly anticipated Zelda game, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, on September 26, 2024. The console features a gold design with black buttons, Hylian Crest on the back, and a Triforce symbol under the right stick.
Limited-Edition Switch Lites
Nintendo has been releasing limited-edition Switch Lite consoles, including Animal Crossing versions, leading up to the launch of the Switch 2. This strategy is common among gaming companies to boost console sales before the release of a new generation.
