CALL of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is holding a secret celebrity tournament in London to celebrate the game’s launch on October 28.
Two teams of celebrities and Call of Duty streamers will take part in the event, including England’s national goalie, Jordan Pickford.
It only a week until the full game’s release.
The event is set to take place in a secret location in London on the day before launch, featuring a number of different celebrities.
Pickford is headlining, though cult favourite and former player Adebayo Akinfenwa, known as The Beast, will also take part.
From the world of music Bullet for my Valentine guitarist Matt Tuck will be placed on a team.
Rapper and TV chef Big Zuu will be fronting one side, while YouTuber Chunkz will take the other.
The pair will also be hosting the event alongside their captaining duties.
Other popular gaming streamers, BennyCentral, MrDalekJD, Sunpi, and Tianna Mercedes, will also be taking part to give some professional help to the teams.
Jordan Pickford has long talked about his love of gaming, even at times asking fans to add him on Xbox.
He was even sent a special edition gold Xbox One X console by Microsoft for his long-running love of games.
Pickford’s presents from Xbox caused controversy back in 2019, when Xbox sent him a special edition red controller in collaboration with sporting brand Fresh Kid.
He tweeted out his new rare controller, and was quickly met with backlash from his fans, and deleted the picture after just 30 minutes.
As Pickford plays for Everton, fans took the red colouring to be a slight at the team as their main rivals are Liverpool, known as The Reds.
It is unclear currently who will be placed on each team, so there are no favourites as to who will win yet.
The single-player campaign of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is currently in early access.
It will see its full release on October 28, for PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
