ITV Streaming App Finally Coming to PlayStation: What You Need to Know

Long-awaited Launch

A major free streaming service, ITVX, is set to launch on PlayStation consoles later this year, offering hundreds of hit TV shows and movies. While Xbox users have had access to the app for some time, PS4 and PS5 owners have been eagerly awaiting this wider release.

User Demand

PS4 and PS5 users have been vocal about their desire for the ITV streaming app, with many taking to social media to express their frustration. The app is home to popular series like Mr Bates vs The Post Office, ITV's biggest drama in over a decade.

Official Announcement

ITV has confirmed that ITVX will be rolling out on PlayStation 4 and 5, although an exact launch date has not yet been provided. The move comes as part of ITV's digital strategy, which includes transitioning BritBox subscribers to ITVX and closing down the ITV Catch Up service on Amazon Prime.

Growth Plans

With the aim of reaching 2.5 million paid subscribers by 2026, ITV is focusing on expanding its digital offerings. ITVX Premium, which offers additional content and an ad-free experience, has already seen a significant increase in streaming hours, with a 26% jump in 2023 compared to the previous year.
