From Console to Screen
With the rise of turning video game stories into TV series, another iconic game is set to hit the small screen. Following the success of The Last of Us and Fallout adaptations, the beloved Yakuza game series is getting a Prime Video TV show.
Like a Dragon: Yakuza
Amazon has announced a live-action series based on Sega's popular Like a Dragon games, previously known as Yakuza in the West. Set to premiere on October 25 on Amazon Prime Video, the show will delve into the world of Kazuma Kiryu, the main character of the game series.
A New Storyline
The upcoming show will feature an original storyline, set in the same time period as the first Yakuza game released in 2005. Viewers will get a glimpse into Kiryu's life before and after his time in prison, with the backdrop of the fictional Tokyo district of Kamurochō.
Behind the Scenes
Directed by acclaimed Japanese director Masaharu Take, the series stars Ryoma Takeuchi as Kiryu. The show will consist of six episodes, split into two releases on October 25 and November 1, 2024.
