How to solve one of the Resident Evil 8 DLC’s hardest puzzles

RESIDENT Evil Village’s new DLC has a bunch of challenging puzzles.

This Resident Evil DLC sees you take the role of Rose Winters, the daughter of the main game’s protagonist.

The riddle in the Hall of Ablution has plenty of players stumped.

After some exploring, you’ll wind up in Castle Dimitrescu where challenges and puzzles await for you to complete.

In the cursed corridors and horrible hallways, you’ll eventually reach the Hall of Ablution, a location from the main game.

You won’t need any of the game’s many weapons in here though, just your mind.

There are four statues depicting Rose’s death and a plaque on the wall that describes the order in which they occur – indicating the order in which you must activate the statues.

If you want the full solution to this puzzle, then read on.

Go up to the plaque and interact with it, you’ll be read the following poem:

“Although I have just drowned, the arrows’ bite doth sting.
They hanged me long ago, yet I feel everything.
But still the worst, not last nor first, the sharpened blade did ring.”

This poem contains somewhat obtuse descriptions of the statues in the hall, which you must activate in the same order they are described in the poem.

The first line indicates that drowning and arrows happen consecutively, with drowning coming first.

The second line tells us that the hanging happened before both drowning and arrows.

Then the final line indicates that the sword doesn’t go first or last in the sequence.

Putting all of these together, you get the following solution:

  • The hanged statue
  • The sword statue
  • The drowned statue
  • The arrow statue

Do it right and a passageway will open in the floor letting you progress.
