FIGHTING game fans are eating well with three big series releasing new games over the next 12 months.
Street Fighter 6 will be released on June 2, and has already received a huge number of 10/10 scores.
Jin Kazuma returns.
Mortal Kombat 1 will also be holding two play tests before its September 19 launch.
One is a stress test open to all, and the other is a beta test that will be held in August for those who have pre-ordered the game.
There seems to be a beta test that will come for the third fighting game releasing soon, Tekken 8.
As spotted by VG247, beta tests have been seen in the data for Tekken 8’s Steam page.
Tekken 8 has already had offline closed alpha tests for professional players who attend tournaments.
The data for the Steam page includes notes for a beta test that is not visible to the public.
One of the assets uploaded alongside the beta reads CNT which stands for ‘closed network test’.
Fans were expecting a Tekken 8 beta, as fighting games often need to be tested a while before launch.
These tests check the strength of the servers, and if they can cope with the large number of players who want to participate.
It also helps the developers to see if a character is too weak or too strong, and if they are favoured by players online.
Studios try to balance each character to make sure that each player can use their favourites.
The data doesn’t mean that a beta test will definitely take place, but it is a strong indicator that one should be coming to Steam.
Tekken 8 is the only one of the three fighting games that doesn’t have a firm release date yet.
It is expected to be released by late 2023 / early 2024, but a beta test will likely be held a few months before release.
