PlayStation recently held its State of Play showcase, unveiling a lineup of new games set to release on PS5, PS VR2, and PC throughout the year. Among the highlights of the 35-minute presentation was the exciting news of a new game reintroducing a beloved character from the Sony universe.
Astro Bot Makes a Comeback on PS5
Astro Bot, the lovable robot who has become an iconic PlayStation mascot, will be making a return in a new game set to launch on PS5 in September. This upcoming title is set to be a nostalgic trip for fans, packed with references to other beloved PlayStation characters and series, including the likes of Kratos from God of War.
Plenty of Content and Nostalgia in Store
The new Astro Bot game is promising an expansive experience, spanning six galaxies, over 80 levels, various biomes, and nods to other iconic PlayStation games. With more than 15 new abilities for Astro and over 70 new types of enemies, players can expect a fresh and engaging gameplay experience.
Release Date and Pre-Orders
The announcement trailer for Astro Bot was revealed during the State of Play showcase, showcasing familiar platforming gameplay with new twists, bosses, and environments. The game is set to launch on September 6, 2024, with pre-orders opening a week prior. Unlike Astro's previous appearance as a free tech demo, this new installment will be a full-fledged game available for purchase.
From Tech Demo to Full-Fledged Game
Astro Bot first made an appearance in 2013 in The Playroom, a collection of casual augmented reality mini-games for the PS4. Since then, the character has evolved, starring in Astro's Playroom and Astro Bot Rescue Mission, capturing the hearts of players with each release.
