Bayonetta voice actor speaks out on the shocking reason she’s not back for the threequel

BAYONETTA 3 will be released shortly, but the original voice actor is calling for fans to boycott the game, after revealing the reason she won’t be appearing in the new game.

Voice actor Hellena Taylor has played the role of the Umbra witch since the original game launched in 2009.

Bayonetta 3 releases October 28.

This includes the voice lines for Bayonetta in other games, such as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

However, she has been replaced for the third game in the series that fans have been waiting eight years to play.

On Twitter, Taylor revealed that developer Platinum offered her just $4k (£3.5k) to reprise her role.

SAGAFTRA, the guild for actors including voice actors in the US, has set out a list of the minimum pay they believe is fair for its actors’ work.

The minimum it recommends for one day’s work, around four hours in the studio, is $1k (£900).

While the first Bayonetta game took just four days to record, the sequel has many more voice lines and presumably took longer to record.

Platinum has said that Bayonetta 3 will be the longest game in the series, meaning that pay should be above the offer Taylor claims she received.

Taylor has been replaced by Jennifer Hale, one of the most prolific and highest-paid actors in the industry.

We do not know how much Hale was offered for the role, but it would be unusual for her to take an offer like the one given to Taylor.

Bayonetta 3 Executive Director Hideki Kamiya tweeted out about the incident following Taylor’s announcement.

He wrote: “Sad and deplorable about the attitude of untruth. That’s all that I can tell now.

“By the way, beware of my rules!”

The last part of the tweet refers to the director blocking fans on Twitter who repeat questions or do not interact with him politely.

While Kamiya claims that what Taylor is saying is untrue, he has not since clarified which parts of her statement are incorrect.
