UBISOFT has revealed the map size of upcoming mainline release Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
Mirage is the first mainline game since Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and a number of other games for the series are in the works.
The new map is much smaller than expected.
However, fans are most excited by Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which will see the return of Basim, this time as the protagonist.
Set in Baghdad, it will give players the chance to explore a whole new region of the world.
However, fans are disappointed by the new location, which has been compared in size to some other places in the series.
Baghdad will be somewhere in between Assassin’s Creed Revelations’ Constantinople and Assassin’s Creed Unity’s Paris.
For reference, Revelations’ map was 1km squared, whereas Unity had a map of roughly 2.4km squared.
While these are decently sized maps, they are far smaller than Assassin’s Creed’s latest release.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s map boasts a massive 150km squared, and is the biggest ever map in the series.
However, some fans were pleased by the announcement.
Ubisoft previously announced that Mirage would be taking the series back to its roots.
This means that it will be a tighter experience with more focus on the story.
While people enjoyed roaming the open world of Valhalla, many wanted to discover more about the story of the assassins.
Assassin’s Creed’s maps have expanded over the years, with the original game having just a 0.1sq km map.
Fans will be happy with Baghdad’s map as long as the story is up to par.
We’ll find out when Assassin’s Creed Mirage launches on October 12, 2023.
