Rumors about Tether's Bitcoin Mining Locations

The chief technology officer of stablecoin issuer Tether (USDT), Paolo Ardoino, has refused to disclose the location of the company's Bitcoin mining sites. Speculation arose after Ardoino shared a photo of an industrial container with a photoshopped Tether Energy logo, leading many to wonder about the purpose of the image.

Clarification on the Photo

In a recent post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Ardoino clarified that the photo depicts a control room at a Bitcoin mining site that Tether is about to launch. However, he firmly stated that he will not reveal the location, citing security concerns and avoiding harassment from critics.

Tether Skeptics Question Legitimacy

Ardoino acknowledges that the refusal to disclose the location has fueled skepticism about Tether's legitimacy. He humorously describes the demands of skeptics, stating that some critics claim, "if you don't tell us the address, zip code, surname of the cow that is eating the grass nearby, then it's not real!"

Reasoning Behind Photoshopped Logo

Ardoino explained that the photoshopped logo on the containers was a deliberate media decision. They had expected the photo to be shared in the media, so the team chose to brand it. However, displaying large Tether logos at the mining sites would compromise the physical privacy and security of the location.

Anticipated Operations to Start in September

Ardoino expressed excitement about the progress of the mining site and announced that operations are expected to commence in September. The Tether team is working tirelessly to ensure a successful launch.

Tether's Mining Software for Transparency

In an interview with Cointelegraph, Ardoino revealed that Tether is developing mining software called Moria. The software aims to provide more transparency in analyzing energy production at Bitcoin mining sites. Ardoino believes that Moria will optimize mining operations and boost production by utilizing analytics and data on energy sources.
