SEBA Expands to Asia Pacific

Switzerland-based crypto bank SEBA AG has obtained a license from the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) through its Hong Kong subsidiary, SEBA Hong Kong. The license allows SEBA to offer a range of crypto-related services in the region, including dealing and distribution of securities and virtual assets-related products. This marks SEBA's first venture into the Asia Pacific region, following its establishment of an office in Hong Kong in November 2022.

Institutional and Professional Services

With the SFC license, SEBA can now provide advice on securities and virtual assets, as well as asset management for discretionary accounts in traditional and virtual assets. The Swiss firm will be able to offer its services to institutional and professional investors, including corporate treasuries, funds, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals.

Hong Kong's Crypto Economy

Hong Kong has established favorable regulations for crypto companies, attracting a select few platforms to operate in the city. The rigorous license regime ensures that only a handful of firms out of nearly a hundred that expressed interest have been granted licenses. SEBA's CEO, Franz Bergmueller, expressed his excitement about becoming part of Hong Kong's virtual asset economy and praised the city's robust legal system and status as a global financial services hub.
