Rumors Dispelled: Starknet Token Distribution Still in Development

The Starknet Foundation has moved quickly to address speculation surrounding screenshots of a distribution portal for its upcoming SRTK ecosystem token. The Foundation clarified that it is still in the process of developing plans for distributing the token to specific users, contributors, and investors. Screenshots circulating online were labeled as draft plans still under development.

Official Criteria and Provision Mechanism Yet to be Finalized

According to a spokesperson from StarkWare, the official criteria and provision mechanism for STRK tokens will be shared once finalized. The company emphasized that any actions or activity at this point will not impact eligibility for receiving the tokens. Community members were also warned about potential scams taking advantage of the uncertainty surrounding the STRK token distribution.

Conflicting Information Raises Questions

Screenshots shared on social media hinted at certain requirements for receiving STRK tokens, including GitHub developers, early Ethereum adopters, stakers, and Starkex users. However, this information conflicts with the initial distribution plans outlined by StarkWare in 2022.

Token Allocation Breakdown

Initial plans for the STRK token allocation stated that 10 billion tokens were minted off-chain. Of these, 17% were designated for StarkWare investors, 32.9% for Core contributors (including employees, consultants, and developer partners), and the remaining 50.1% for distribution by the Starknet Foundation.
