New opportunity for retail traders

Coinbase International Exchange, a class F license holder from the Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA), announced that it has received additional regulatory approval, allowing the platform to offer perpetual futures trading to non-US retail customers. This move comes after Coinbase International already offered crypto derivatives services to institutional clients.

Opening the doors to retail traders

The recent regulatory approval means that Coinbase International will now offer eligible customers access to regulated perpetual futures contracts on the Coinbase Advanced platform in the coming weeks. This update is a significant step as nearly 75% of crypto trading volume comes from the derivatives market, which has mainly been dominated by institutions. By expanding the access to retail traders, Coinbase aims to level the playing field.

A secure and compliant gateway

Coinbase assures customers that it does not engage in market making. The liquidity on the platform is provided by established, independent liquidity providers who have undergone thorough compliance reviews. This commitment to security and compliance makes Coinbase International the right gateway for retail traders to access the crypto derivatives market in a secure and compliant manner.

Strict eligibility criteria

It's important to note that only non-US consumers in a few countries can use Coinbase International Exchange. Additionally, customers are tested to evaluate their eligibility for perpetual futures trading before they can open a Coinbase Advanced trading account. This ensures that only those who meet the necessary requirements can participate.

Growing global presence

Despite facing a regulatory battle with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Coinbase continues to expand its services outside of the United States. Just a month ago, the platform received approval from the National Futures Association (NFA) to offer investments in crypto futures to eligible institutional clients in the U.S. This recent approval further solidifies Coinbase International's position in the global market.
