New Leadership for Near Foundation

Marieke Flament, the CEO of Near Foundation, the developer of the namesake community layer-one protocol, has announced her resignation. In her place, Chris Donovan, Near Foundation's general counsel, will take up the role of CEO. Flament did not provide a specific reason for her departure.

A Look Back at Flament's Tenure

During her time as CEO, Flament helped Near Protocol achieve significant growth. She claims that from 2021 to 2023, the daily active user count of Near Protocol grew from 50,000 to an impressive 3 million. The platform's Twitter followers also increased from 200,000 to over 2 million. Additionally, Near secured partnerships with notable companies such as Alibaba, Amazon, Google, and more. Flament also revealed that the Near Foundation currently holds a treasury balance of 330 million NEAR, estimated to be worth $350 million.

Flament's Leadership Strategy

Flament's approach as CEO revolved around driving mainstream adoption, supporting grassroots communities, and progressing towards decentralization. She emphasized the importance of collaborating with both web2 players and web3 innovators to foster growth.

Near Protocol's Market Performance

Near Protocol is currently ranked as the 40th largest cryptocurrency by market cap, with tokens valued at approximately $1.04 billion. In June, Škoda Auto, a leading Czech automobile conglomerate, launched a non-fungible tokens platform on the Near Protocol.
