A recent audacious attempt by a Bitcoin advocate to travel from New York to Alaska funded solely by cryptocurrency trading has come to an abrupt and disappointing end. Thomas Kralow, a crypto trader and educator, set out on August 12 with his assistant Ilya and a budget of $5,000 cash. However, their journey hit a roadblock when their cheap car broke down in Seattle, just 12 days after they began.

The Challenge of Crypto Trading on the Road

Speaking exclusively to Cointelegraph, Kralow revealed that the biggest challenge of their cross-country journey was not the physical obstacles they encountered, but rather the difficulties of crypto trading itself. With only $2,500 left to trade their way to Alaska and daily expenses of $300, Kralow admitted that they needed to make a profit of 12 to 14% every day. Despite the risky nature of their venture, Kralow was willing to take the chance, stating that he was prepared to accept the consequences if he failed.

Driven by Passion for Bitcoin and Happiness

While Kralow's motivation for the journey included growing his social media following, he emphasized that his main goal was to promote happiness and Bitcoin. In a series of YouTube videos documenting their trip, Kralow aimed to showcase the importance of leading a fulfilling and grateful life while sharing knowledge about the world of Bitcoin and blockchain.

Reflecting on the experience, Kralow described it as a humbling one that allowed him to reconnect with his roots. He explained that despite his extravagant displays of wealth on social media, he wanted to go back to where he came from and truly appreciate the simpler things in life.

The Unexpected Crypto Literacy Along the Way

One surprising aspect of their journey was the level of crypto literacy they encountered in unexpected places. Kralow mentioned a conversation he had with a welder in Louisiana who demonstrated impressive knowledge about Bitcoin. This encounter stood in stark contrast to their experience in Silicon Valley, where they encountered tech-savvy individuals who knew very little about cryptocurrencies.

Future Plans and a Potential World Record

Despite the setback, Kralow remains determined to make his mark. His next step is to submit a request to the Guinness Book of World Records, as he believes no one has ever traveled over 5,000 miles relying solely on earnings from trading Bitcoin or crypto.

While Kralow's journey may have come to a premature end, his story serves as a reminder of the challenges and risks involved in crypto trading and the need for greater understanding and education within the industry.
